What’s happening?

I missed May 4th’s issue of the newsletter.

Did you notice?

Well, life happened.

As in, my dad had a stroke. Two, actually: one to put him in the hospital and one in the hospital.

He’s doing…okay.

He’s lucky, believe it or not.

He’s “been compromised” (his words), and he has a long road ahead of him.

But I’m encouraged by the progress he’s made—mini milestones lead to major breakthroughs.

Still, it’s a drastic difference. He’s not the man he used to be. (Then again, neither am I.)

It’s hard seeing him like this, not in control. It’s scary. And sad, not gonna lie.

Which has me thinking…

  1. About how quickly things change

Nothing’s set in stone. There’s never enough time, they won’t always be there.

⇨ Call them more often. Visit them more often. Be thankful for every moment.

  2. About the decisions you make

it boils down to time. How you choose to spend it, who you choose to spend it with.

⇨ Every decision you make has a cost. Ask yourself what you’re willing to pay.

  3. And about managing emotions

Family crises are overwhelming. All the stress and anxiety, fear and love, anger and grief.

⇨ Grace before guilt. Patience before panic. Self-awareness before self-destruction.

It’s never easy when the people you love suffer. Shit gets messy and you can feel so helpless.

It’s hard to stay optimistic. Hard not to burn out.

It straight up sucks donkey D! (I know, that type of thinking doesn’t help.)

I guess the best you can do is take it day by day—accept the current reality, adapt along the way.

Don’t wait until it’s too late

Here are 15 things you might find interesting.

Some words

Sprezzatura (Italian): studied carelessness, effortless grace, or earned effortlessness; making something difficult look easy; nonchalant under pressure.

Initium est dimidium facti—Once you’ve started, you’re halfway there.”
– Latin proverb (from the Roman poet, Horace)

“I want to make beautiful things, even if nobody cares.”
Saul Bass

Some wonder

Some wealth

Some wellness

Some work

That’s a wrap. I hope you found something interesting.

Keep building.
