This image is a simple line drawing of a cannabis leaf. The leaf features seven distinct, pointed leaflets arranged in a fan shape, with each leaflet having serrated edges. The leaflets taper to a sharp point at the end, with the central leaflet being the longest. The drawing is primarily outlined in a fine, black line, with subtle green shading that adds a bit of depth to the otherwise minimalistic design.

Going, going, ganja: why quit weed

August 18, 2024June 20, 20256 Comments

If weed isn’t addictive, why’s it so sticky-icky? Read 833 words about addiction and living life on your own terms.

A black and white hand-drawn sketch of a rugged work boot. The boot features a thick, treaded sole for durability and traction. The upper part of the boot includes detailed stitching and metal eyelets, which the laces are threaded through. The boot's collar is padded for added comfort, and there is a small loop at the back of the collar, likely used for pulling the boot on. The drawing is minimalistic but captures the characteristics of a heavy-duty work boot, symbolizing toughness and practicality.

This is a light green-coloured ribbon. It’s sitting flat on a 30° angle, pointing to the right. The top of the ribbon is shaped like an arrow head. There’s a hole near the top, with a piece of black string looped through it and knotted at the end. This allows the ribbon to be hung. The bottom of the ribbon is jagged, like it was torn from a piece of perforated cloth. The word “participation” is stitched in black in the ribbon’s centre. The word is written in capital letters.

Participation ribbons are for the soft ones

The hard truth about being soft. Served up in 733 spicy words on The Davis Daily.

An hourglass shows the sands of time running out. Only a quarter of the sand remains within the top section of the hourglass. Three-quarters of the sand has piled up within the bottom section. The sand piles are shaped like teardrops. Mirroring each other and connected by a thin line of sand, like hands of death and life reaching for each other. The hourglass is held upright within a container. The top of the container is a layer of four flat bases, each one smaller in diameter than the other, creating a step-like platform. The bottom of the container is the same construction and shape as the top. The sides of the container are two pillars. Ornate in design but misshapen, as if reflecting life’s imperfections.

How Stoicism reminds you to live in the moment. In 289 words on The Davis Daily.

A surfboard stands upright on a beach. It’s facing the ocean’s rolling waves, its tail end dug firmly into the sand. There’s a pattern on the back of the board: two sets of three wave-like lines running horizontally from side-to-side. The lines aren’t exactly symmetrical. The board has three fins near the tail end. One fin is close to the left edge of the board, the second fin is close to the right edge of the board, and the third fin is in the middle.

How not to surf life like a paddlepuss: 362 words about acceptance, resilience, and intention. The Davis Daily.

Two small dogs are sitting down and staring straight at you. The one on the left is fluffy and is wearing a bandana around its neck. It’s sticking its tongue out and smiling. The dog on the right has its head cocked to the left, as though it’s curious about what you’re thinking. Both dogs have their ears perked straight up. Their boopable noses are black and their eyes are kind and loving.
